Another Fall - Another Classic!

The 2006 MEL Fall Classic not only equalled but exceeded the 2005 version.  Prizes were better than ever (thanks to our many sponsors - complete listing on the fall golf page). the food was excellent (thanks to the styaff and management of Bridges Golf Club) and, most im portant, our donation to Cancer Care Manitoba was the biggest yet.

The 2005 Manitoba Electrical League Fall Classic featuring Jason Zuback, 4 times world long drive champion, scored big for The CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

One hundred and fifty-two golfers turned out at Bridges Golf Course on September 6th, to watch Jason Zuback drive Balls over the horizon and then challenged the course to raise money for one of Manitoba’s most worthwhile charities.

This year, the Electrical Industry lost two of its icons, George Reid and Tom Chowen to cancer and in their honour, the M. E. L. presented a cheque for over $6500.00 to the Foundation.

The presentation took place on Thursday, October 13th at 10 AM in front of the Manitoba Hydro Bear, “CALL ‘BEAR’ FORE YOU DIG,” between Carlton and Edmonton on Broadway.

The Manitoba Electrical League's chosen charity is the Firefighters Burn Fund Inc.

The Firefighters Burn Fund Inc. was formed to support and improve the care provided to adults and children who have suffered burn injuries.

The fund is also used to further education of adults and children in the prevention of burns and scalds.  It provides funding for special equipment, research, staff training, rehabilitation and the operation of an annual camp for children who have been patients in the burn unit.

Each year Manitoba Electrical League members show their generosity and community spirit by supporting this worthwhile cause.
